Christopher Lowe is a Director, Musical Director, Vocal Coach and Conductor. He is the recipient of the Morning Music Club Award, The Hiki No Award for Musical Service, and The International Thespian Society Service Award and most recently, the 2017 Regional Spotlight Vocal Competition Overall Adult winner. His work with Manoa Valley Theater won the Po’okela Award for Best Performance by an Ensemble. Mr. Lowe has directed performance and music for 24 shows with various theaters and organizations including American Renaissance Academy, Manoa Valley Theater, Vaiola College, Farrington High School and Pas De Deaux. Chris has been a conductor of the Vaiola College Choir, National University of Samoa Choir, Makakilo Stake Choir and Orchestra.
Chris has written orchestrations for the Honolulu Stake Orchestra as well as ensembles large and small in Hawaii, California and Samoa. He has also written original music including the American Renaissance Academy Alma Mater and the background music for the Meadow Gold Dairy True Heroes television commercial.
As a vocal coach, some of Chris' clients have included international operatic baritone Jordan Shanahan, local artist Kamakani Palakiko and WOW President Shervelle Bergholz. His students have won a total of 3 regional vocal 1st prizes, 3 international first prizes, and 4 international 2 prizes.
As a performer, Chris has performed on stages in Hawaii, Nebraska, California, Samoa and Japan appearing in roles including Aeneas in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas, as Papa Ge and Agwe in Once On This Island, Joe Boyd in Damn Yankees, Hercule in Can Can and Gremio in Kiss Me, Kate. He has also appeared as a guest performer at Brigham Young University Hawaii and at the Historic Hawaii Theater and has been accompanied by the former Honolulu Symphony.
Chris is currently Director of Performing Arts at American Renaissance Academy where he has hosted performers of color including Lindsay Roberts, Kent Overshown, Derrick Davis and Rufus Bonds.
